Te Kōwhai Rongoā was born from a simple belief: healing should be accessible, natural, and shared freely.

What began as a personal journey of learning, experimenting, and reconnecting with traditional wisdom has grown into a thriving family-run skincare business dedicated to helping people care for their skin in a more natural way.

At Te Kōwhai Rongoā, we create handcrafted tallow-based skincare using carefully selected ingredients and a slow, intentional process. Every batch is made with the same care and attention we would give to our own whānau.

But our mission extends beyond the products themselves.

We believe knowledge is meant to be shared, not hidden behind closed doors. Whether someone chooses to purchase from us or learn how to make their own tallow at home, our goal remains the same: to empower people with information, confidence, and natural alternatives that support their wellbeing.

As demand for our products has grown, so has our team. What was once a one-woman operation is now supported by family, with my whangai sister- Phoebe joining Te Kōwhai Rongoā to help create products, fulfil orders, and continue delivering the care and quality our customers have come to trust.

The name Te Kōwhai Rongoā reflects both healing and growth. Like the kōwhai tree, we believe strong roots create lasting strength. For us, those roots are found in family, community, nature, and the willingness to share what we learn with others.
